resilience and confidence

‘in nature, there is no such thing as half a wave”

We simply cannot have up without down, they are absolutely inseparable parts of the same thing. Despite knowing that, much of the difficulty we face is created by our continual efforts to cut that wave in half; to deny the down and cling on to the up. If you’ve ever tried to tell yourself to “stop feeling anxious”, or tried to control circumstances too tightly, then you know how that futility feels. Ironically, we get anxious about being anxious or nervous about loss, and make the whole thing worse.

It doesn't have to be that way. How about we learn to stop fighting, and work with the ups and downs? Can we see them for what they are and then respond accordingly? Can we learn to surf the waves? This is the basis for real resilience and confidence; working with life, not wrestling with it.

Still, in a complex and changing environment, it can be tricky to find that sense of proportion. That’s why these workshops are all about regaining and working with that bigger perspective - you could say they’re about returning to your natural state - confident, resilient and resourceful.

I currently use this popular and pragmatic approach in a number of organisations, offering online and face-to-face workshops in a range of formats: from a 90-minute briefing , to 1/2-day, 1-day and 2-day workshops. I even offer a series of short online workshops that build into regular and useful practice.

"A great course, thought-provoking and insightful, providing practical and empowering strategies that can be applied to challenges both within and outside of the workplace"

Examples of workshops in this area:

  • How to be more confident - a 1/2, 1 or 2d event to develop awareness of helpful patterns and beneficial practices

  • Research, resilience and zen - a 1/2 or 1d event - a roadmap for personal resilience and solving real challenges

  • Bounce! - a series of 90 minute online workshops, or a 2-d face to face event on developing resilience, resourcefulness and confidence

  • Overcoming the challenges of… - a 1/2d workshop on the practicalities of a resilient mindset and problem solving
